The greatest players in the game didn’t just yearn for a bulging trophy cabinet and loads of followers on their Twitter account, they wanted make the game look beautiful: to play with an artistry and flair that transcended the game and made the people happy.
Anyway, heroic New York graphic artist James Taylor has taken the idea of football being art, probably bunged on some scratchy old vinyl and come up with this wonderful little collection of beautiful footballers as musical stars.
He said this to The Guardian, ‘I felt that [Carlos] Valderrama’s hair instantly puts him into the mould of guitar virtuoso. I imagined Jairzinho to make a funk-soul LP; it’s the right time period and he already has the look. Socrates, on the other hand, would perhaps make a folk or experimental record with a more political message.’
If you want these works of art to adorn your flat, it is possible to buy them from James’s shop right here.
